October 13th sees the return at the Village Hall of the glorious new tradition of Homemade in Haddenham. You remember that beautiful summer's day last October, when the sun shone and everything was golden? Well, we are hoping for the same again this year, in an expanded version of the inaugural event of 2011.
There will be numerous craft stalls – home furnishings, hand sewn crafts, jewellery, handmade bags, turned wood, felt and leather goods, photography and pottery – homemade food and drink – home-reared pork roast rolls, ice cream (St George's Gelato sold out when it was so hot last year!), a multitude of cakes, preserves and beer – and there will be demonstrations of bee-keeping, beer-making, cider-making, bread-making, chicken-keeping and more. The colourful centrepiece to events last year was the pressing of apples and production of delicious juice made from all the apples trees of the village. This year's crop is less bountiful , but the apple-pressing and apple juice production will go ahead.
Come for coffee, stay for lunch
Come for lunch, stay for tea!
Homemade in Haddenham is a glorious celebration of the wonderful products and produce of Haddenham and nearby villages. As we all try to move towards living more sustainably – cutting our food miles, supporting local business, using the world's resources more carefully and considerately – it is a wonderful chance to see just how easily that can be done, and to such high quality.
Come to support the event and see the wonderful things that go in our village – but there are lots of other ways to be involved:
