With the assistance of Haddenham dotNet Facebook page and the local community, 17-year-old village resident, Madeleine Smith has raised £200 for charity, to be split between the Myeloma Society and The Trussell Trust.

In April Madeleine placed a post on the Haddenham dotNet Facebook page enquiring if anyone had a sewing machine for sale. A reader kindly donated a 40 year old machine in pristine condition.

Using a sewing pattern from the New York Times, Madeleine set about making non-medical grade material face masks and then using the community Facebook page once again she gauged how much interest there would be for any such face masks.

Combining it with her A Level studies, Madeleine then set about manufacturing approximately 100 masks before supplying them with a suggested donation of £2.

Thanks to the generosity of Haddenham dotNet Facebook readers she was able to raise funds to support the work of the Myeloma Society and The Trussell Trust.

Congratulations, Madeline – what a wonderful effort!
