The Haddenham Mummers bring a unique form of entertainment to local village events and pubs during the run-up to Christmas.

Their folktale performances can't help but bring a smile to the faces of everyone witnessing the distinctive and quirky form of theatre!

Most importantly, the Haddenham Mummers achieve remarkable levels of fundraising for their chosen charities, and their performances preceding Christmas 2019 raised £2,935 – a truly noteworthy achievement.

On Saturday evening 25th January, the Mummers got together at the Rising Sun pub to present cheques to this year's charities:

* Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation
* Haddenham Community Library
* Helen and Douglas House
* Mucopolysaccharide Society
* Chinnor and Princes Risborough Steam Railway
* Snakemoor Nature Reserve

There was also a small donation made in support of this community website, for which your editor is sincerely grateful. Similarly, Red Kite Radio benefited from a small donation.

The Mummers also took the opportunity to inaugurate the "Mummers' Hall of Fame", recognising the long-term contributions of former members of the group. Their plaques were presented and these will be displayed on the west facing wall of the Rising Sun pub, courtesy of Liam and Silvie Kittle.

Receiving the very first recognition awards for many years of involvement in the Haddenham Mummers were:

* John Heydon
* Robyn Thorogood
* Dick Timberlake (received by daughter, Claire)

Well done to all the Haddenham Mummers, past and present – fundraising with a smile!
