phone scam 02

An elderly local resident has asked us to post the following:

"A police sargeant from Hammersmith police station phoned me to ask whether I knew anyone by the name of they had arrested who was claiming to live with me.

After a long conversation I was convinced that the caller was from the police and they gave me an Identification name and numbers.

He said he wanted me to help the police and Nat West Bank Aylesbury to identify an undercover operation of bank employees who were scamming.

He explained that I needed to go and draw out money from my bank account and bring it home to identify counterfeit money.

I feel very thick now as I was taken in by it...but something stopped me going home. Instead I contacted Thames Valley police to verify his identity with Met police. They immediately sent round officers, but unfortunately no arrests were made.

There were lots of other details that made it sound so convincing...but I think they must have sensed they'd been rumbled because I haven t heard anything since.

I don t wan t anyone else experiencing a similar terrifying situation. So be aware."
