Parents and Carers looking for activities to entertain, educate and occupy their children over the summer holidays have plenty of local options. Here are a few we know about. We will update this list as we learn of others.
Thame Lighthouse
Lighthouse Thame is a holiday week for children and young people in Thame and the surrounding villages that takes place in the summer holidays. This year it will be running from Monday 25th -- Friday 29th July.
It is a huge and extremely well organised event, run through a partnership of local churches and supported by hundreds of experienced volunteers. Thame Lighthouse has a very strong Christian ethic, and the organisers' objective is to create a safe, fun and enjoyable environment for everyone.

Haddenham Playscheme
The Haddenham Playscheme is a community scheme run for local school children by volunteers for one week during the summer holidays. This year the Playscheme will take place from Monday 1st to Friday 5th August at Haddenham Community Junior School, from 9.00am-12.00 noon each day.

Soccer Coaching Courses
Fun packed football activity days from £10.00 per day for U6 – 12yrs, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 26th July until Thursday 18th August.
With fun prizes and daily speed shooting competition, it's a great way to keep the kids entertained. Join in the fun at Meadow View Park (Thame United's ground).
Courses run by fully qualified coaches and are held over four summer holiday weeks:
- 26th to July 28th July
- 2nd to 4th August
- 9th to 11th August
- 16th to 18th August
All sessions are from 9.00am to 3.00pm

Activities at Haddenham Community Library
A full programme of holiday activities is planned by Haddenham Community Library as follows:
Children aged up to 11 years (Year 6) are invited to join this summer's reading challenge 'The Big Friendly Read'. It runs from 16th July until 10th September and "it's sure to be Dahl-ightful"!
There are also Tuesday Activity Afternoons (2-4pm) for ages 8 and above:
- 26th July 26 Big Reading Challenge sign-up;
- 2nd August CPR with Heartbeat Haddenham;
- 9th August Sewing;
- 16th August: Weaving;
- 23rd August CPR (as above);
- 30th August Dogs Trust workshop and craft
On Thursdays there are Craft Afternoons (from 2pm) for ages 6 and above:
- 28th July Scrapbook craft
- 4th August Pottery
- 11th August Decoupage
- 18th August Garden lanterns
- 25th August Jewellery making
- 1st September Masks
Booking at the library is essential for these afternoon activities as sessions won't run if there is insufficient demand. A small refundable deposit of £5 per family per week will be required.
On Thursday mornings from 10am there will be activities for pre-schoolers, including playdough, pasta jewellery, maize crafts and fruit salad faces.
Each Friday there's a Mystery Film Afternoon for children aged five and above who can watch a PG film in the library. Tuck shop available.
Please note that parents are required to stay in the library for the duration of all the activities.
Cycle Training Courses
Summer Holiday Courses (at Haddenham Junior School)
Biking Basics courses for beginners aged 5 years+ able to ride without stabilisers.
Bikeability Level 1 courses for trainees aged 7 years+ who can ride without stabilisers, but who would like to learn new skills and gain confidence.
On-road Bikeability Level 2 courses for trainees aged 9 years+. Participants must have achieved Bikeability Level 1 in order to take part.
