We are shocked and saddened to bring you news of the passing of Adrienne Ward. Close friend Clare Abbott offers this warm tribute on behalf of the village community:

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear friend Adrienne Ward on the 16th of April 2021.

Adrienne was a much loved and very active part of the Haddenham community. Although she had recently moved to Aylesbury, her heart and life was still firmly connected to Haddenham.

Adrienne's Haddenham pursuits were numerous. Most recently she had become our resident 'craft lady' with her successful children's craft club business Craft At The Cafe. Previously a teacher, she used her teaching skills to start her business, first at Tickety Brew, quickly following on to all three Haddenham schools and then to other schools and cafes in the surrounding villages. She brought joy to so many of our children providing a creative outlet in a fun caring environment.

She loved working with children and between her craft clubs she would provide childcare, helping Haddenham families. She had previously run Haddenham toddler group and was an active member of the PTA at The Junior school and Haddenham infants where she was also a lunchtime supervisor for a time.

Her Haddenham pursuits didn't stop there. She volunteered in numerous settings including Haddenham Museum, Haddenham screen, and ran a mother and baby singing session at the Library. She used her story telling skills to run story time at The Haddenham Feast. She also helped run the Sunday school at the Baptist church where she was an active member together with her son Mac.

More than these worthy pursuits, she was a beloved friend to so many people from every walk of life, and her friends were incredibly important to her. She treasured and nurtured her friendships, always. She had a talent for chatting to anyone and making them smile. Everyone in the village recognised her red hair and her colourful Cath Kidston dresses.

She had time for everyone, an enormous heart and immeasurable kindness.

Our thoughts are with her son Mac, her beloved family and her many many friends who all meant so much to her from Haddenham and beyond.

Our world is a little bit darker today. She was and shall always be one of a kind, whom we shall miss forever.
