The proposed 'Eco Lodge' at St Mary's CE School has taken an important step towards becoming a reality, with firm plans in place for construction to start.
Writing in the school's end-of-term newsletter, Head Teacher Karen Collett had this to say:
"I have to admit that there were times when I didn't think I would see this day but it has finally come, and I am now able to say that, after over a year of fundraising, we are going to start building the eco lodge!"
Building will start on the foundations on 8th April.
"We would like children to learn about the process of the build so we will be asking project managers, sponsors and tradespersons to come in and talk to the children during the build. The children will also be able to see the process of the build."
"We will be the first school in Buckinghamshire to have such a building so this is a very big achievement for Haddenham St Mary's school. I would like to thank our wonderful PTA who have raised over £8000 towards the project, the Garth Weston foundation, The Rothschild foundation, the village fete committee and Free Food Friday who have also collectively contributed to the fund."
"Parents of current and past pupils can still help us by buying a plaque for the eco lodge with your child's name on it. We still need funds for the outside decking and equipment to go inside so if you would like to buy a plaque, please fill in the form that you can download as a PDF from this page. Both past and present pupils are welcome to have their name etched on the lodge forever. So if you would like to buy a plaque, please complete the attached donation form and return to the School Office."
