The annual Remembrance Service in Haddenham took place at St Mary's Church at 10.15am on Sunday 12th November and was followed immediately afterwards by a Ceremony of Remembrance by the War Memorial at Church End, at 11.00am.
The service and ceremony were jointly planned by representatives from Churches Together in Haddenham, the Royal British Legion and Haddenham Association of Scouts and Guides.
Many young people were involved in both the service and the ceremony at the war memorial and the address was delivered by Jonny Fillis of the Baptist Church.
In the ceremony by the War Memorial the traditional words from For the Fallen by Laurence Binyon were spoken by Simon Bedding
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
The Last Post and Reveille were sounded by Haddenham resident Bob Ellisdon.
Andrew Fell reminded us of these profound words:
When You Go Home, Tell Them Of Us And Say,
For Their Tomorrow, We Gave Our Today
The service concluded with a blessing, offered by Jonny Fillis
The local members of The Royal British Legion extend their sincere thanks to all those who participated.
