Haddenham Tennis Club has many Mini members (age 4-11) who then move on to Junior status (age 12-18) and, as they continue to play regularly, they enjoy the game in many different ways as part of the tennis community.
However, it's not just about playing tennis! In March this year the Club funded ten Junior members to participate in an LTA (Lawn Tennis Association) Youth Leadership Skills for Tennis Leaders programme (accredited by SLQ Sports Leaders) which involved learning modules, practical experience and additional online learning.
A full day's tuition from our Head Coach (Blaise Metock) and Assistant Coach (Julie Burton) enabled them to focus on key leadership skills to help not only with leading tennis activities on and off the court but also in education and the world of work too.
We have Junior members who undertake part of their Duke Of Edinburgh award scheme by volunteering at coaching sessions as well as older Juniors who are invited to attend coaching and tennis camp sessions to support the Coaching Team by supervising the younger children.
They all now have this formal qualification and as a Tennis Leader are a key part of the HTC Coaching Team and will gain confidence when applying for jobs or further education opportunities.
