Brownies visit Snakemoor

Members and leaders from 3rd Haddenham Brownies enjoyed a lovely summer outing at Snakemoor Nature Reserve. This is a delightful community space accessible from Haddenham and Thame Parkway Station via a short safe footpath.

The girls had a quiz sheet to follow and loved exploring the woods, meadow, willow tunnel, pond and orchard looking for bugs, butterflies, wild flowers, trees and evidence of birds and mammals living there.

The visit was arranged with Haddenham Parish Council and hosted by some of the team of knowledgeable and welcoming local volunteers, who led the girls around the reserve in small groups. Snakemoor gives opportunities for local residents to be involved in helping to improve and develop the Reserve and contribute to the local environment.

After the event, volunteer Julian said: “ It was a delight to show the Brownies around Snakemoor. They were such an enthusiastic, energetic and enquiring group. We hope the tour will encourage them to return with their families to see and learn more. Perhaps, one day they'll become future volunteers!”

Copies of the Snakemoor information leaflet are available from the Parish Council Office in Haddenham.
