Building work on the Haddenham Community library scheduled to last for five weeks will start on Tuesday 30th May.

Due to the nature of some of the work, for safety reasons the library will need to be closed from that date for three weeks. It will reopen for business on Tuesday 20th June 20th.

The work being undertaken by Buckinghamshire Council on our distinctive 50-year-old building involves recovering the flat roof, replacing the front and back doors, the high clerestory windows and two large picture windows, repairing the pitched tiled pyramid roof and renovating the weathervane.

The Library Trustees are taking the opportunity to have improved internal lighting installed at the same time.

Arrangements for borrowers to have library loans automatically extended and reservation collection are being organised and details will be available soon on the library website, the Buckinghamshire Libraries website and advertised in the library once finalised.

We are very sorry that we must close the library but it's a very big job and safety of the public must be our primary concern. The works is very necessary to stop the roof leaking, to try and make the building more energy efficient and to improve the quality of light inside. Please bear with us and we apologise for the disruption.

We will keep you up-to-date with developments as they happen and do come and don't forget to come and see us at our stall at the Haddenham Village Fete on Saturday 10th June.

Thank you from all at the Haddenham Community Library – the Board of Trustees, Library managers Anna and Harriet and our 30 + volunteers.
