Ken Perry, a Trustee of Haddenham Museum, has now completed the project of producing a detailed drawing of all the grave plots in St Mary's churchyard. The end result is an amazing piece of work and copies of the large map have been deposited with the Parish Council office, St Mary's church office, as well as being displayed in the Museum.
Accompanying the map are dossiers listing all the names of the people memorialised. The map and schedules provide the locations of all the burial plots in the churchyard and the names of the occupiers in alphabetical and date order. There is information on 996 individual plots with 1,341 interments.
A second series of schedules include the available church records of burials between 1654 and 2024, both in alphabetical and date order, containing 4,881 names and include those people without memorials or known grave plots. There are several thousand, including paupers whose bodies were sent home from the Aylesbury workhouse or from other parishes.
Ken has included any notes by the vicar and those observations make fascinating reading.
