The final stage of planning permission for CALA Homes' development of Haddenham Airfield was granted by AVDC on Friday 31st March 2017.

The diagram on this page shows the intended layout – click on the image to view an enlarged version. You can see a higher resolution version on the AVDC Planning website here. But be patient – the AVDC portal can be rather slow!

The overall site plan references the new DAF Head Quarters (greyed out section: Ref 16/04276/ADP). It also shows the positioning of a proposed "express" style retail outlet and an elderly care home: Ref 14/032891/AOP – however, your website editor could find no sign of a formal planning application for these facilities on the AVDC website.

The new development of 233 homes, which will be named 'Aspen Park' for marketing purposes, will include a mix of one to five bedroom properties. Thirty per cent of the homes have also been allocated as 'affordable housing', which will be split between Rented and Shared Ownership dwellings.

CALA's average selling price (as at 30th June 2016) was £538,000. If this statistic holds true for the airfield development, the total retail value of 'Aspen Park' for CALA will exceed £125 million.

As part of its plans, it is therefore comforting to note that CALA Homes will be contributing approximately £4.7m to improve services and facilities for the local community in Haddenham. The housebuilder will be providing substantial green, open space at the centre of the development. This will include an equipped children's play area, a hectare of informal green space for casual walks and picnics, as well as 4.38 hectares of sports pitches with an accompanying 60-space car park.

As part of this funding, it is anticipated that the parish council will also be able to deliver a brand new sports pavilion next door to the site for local teams Haddenham Youth and Senior Football Clubs to use. We will keep you updated on this matter as we receive relevant information from the parish council.

Andrew Aldridge, Land Director at CALA Homes, said: "We're delighted to have received planning approval for our development on Haddenham Airfield. 'Aspen Park' will be a flagship development for the CALA Chiltern region, providing new families the opportunity to move to this semi-rural location."

Work is expected to start on site in Summer 2017. More information will appear on the CALA website.
