The remakable standard of musicianship continued to amaze a local audience at St Mary's Church on Friday evening, 11th July, when Internationally renowned Violinist Fenella Humphreys made a welcome return to the Carwithen Music Festival, alongside distinguished Pianist, Nicola Eimer.
The pair played a glorious programme of pieces written by female composers, including:
* Violin Sonata (Movements 1 and 4) by Ethel Smyth
* Midsummer Moon by Rebecca Clarke
* Violin Sonata (2nd Movement) by Dorothy Howell
* Ballade by Freda Swain
* Violin Sonata by Doreen Carwithen
Having recently been suffering flu-like symptoms, Fenella elected to wear a mask while playing, in order to protect her musical colleague as well as her audience from sharing any potential bugs that she may have been habouring.
She did kindly consent to a photograph being taken in the fresh air outside the church without her mask, for which the photographer was most grateful.

The Festival continues on Saturday 12th July with three concerts and a film presentation – see the details here
