First Football Festival Breaks Records
Haddenham Youth Football Club (HYFC) is celebrating as last weekend's Festival of Football broke all records as a fundraiser for the Club.
90 local teams took part, alongside HYFC sides, with around 800 players visiting the Airfield pitches.
Teams from Aston Clinton, Aylesbury Vale Dynamos, Marlow United, Marlow Youth and Penn and Tylers Green were among the winners in events from U-7s to U-15 Girls.
HYFC sides were victorious in the U-11s and U-15 Girls competitions.
On a balmy weekend, players, coaches and spectators were fed and watered by HYFC volunteers from the Airfield Pavilion as well as local food and drink vendors.
The Festival of Football was made possible by Festival Partners BWK Solicitors and Blanchford Building Supplies along with support from Haddenham Parish Council and PSP. DAF, IPro Solutions Ltd and Skyhawke Technologies Ltd on the Haddenham Business Park kindly donated car parking facilities.
Feedback from local clubs has been very positive with visitors enjoying the new Pavilion which has just been shortlisted in the Buckinghamshire Design Awards.
Alex Wagstaff, Club Chairman commented:
"A successful first fundraising tournament is essential for the Club to deliver on our plans for more equipment, improved facilities, new online systems and to invest in coaching development.
"I want to thank all our partners and supporters for making it possible. Thanks also to local residents who welcomed our visitors."
Alex Giles, chair of the Festival Organising Committee added:
"A big thank you to local clubs for supporting us in such numbers. But even more importantly, I want to thank the many parents and carers who volunteered across the weekend from car park marshalling to frying bacon. It simply would not have been possible without them."
This weekend sees HYFC teams start their league campaigns whilst Haddenham Ladies face Slough Town LFC in the 1st Qualifying Round of the Women's FA Cup. Kick off on Sunday is 2.00pm at Cuddington Playing Fields.
HYFC recently launched its new website — www.hyfc.club — as part of its plan to develop coaching; attract more players; add more teams; improve its playing facilities in partnership with Haddenham Parish Council and bag more wins, big or small.
