Haddenham Players' "Flicks Musical"

Over the weekend of 8th & 9th February, Haddenham Players' presented "Flicks – The Musical" in Haddenham village hall.

The plot featured Rose as the owner and manager of the beloved family-run Rialto Cinema whose business was under threat from the money-making clutches of the property landlord, Jo Green.

Cinema staff feared for their jobs and the loss of this wonderful community asset.

As the story unfolded, the audience members were treated to a cavalcade of popular songs from the movies, each one maintaining a very enjoyable toe-tapping spectacle for everyone, young or old.

The particularly strong vocal talents of Samantha King led the way with excellent support from Maisie Preston, Amelia Heathfield, Hannah Austin and Joanna Heathfield.

Sally Miles presented the unacceptable face of capitalism while Kevin Cheeseman was the creative and charitable projectionist, both of whom contrbuted their very capable singing skills.

Support roles were played by Delia Worthy and Gordon Lawson.

Technical and front-of-house support was provided by Gillian Liddell (costumes) Paul Wilson (stage manager) Andy Price, Dave Watkins, Trevor Walker, Richard Matthews and Chris Long (sound), Beth Knighton, Justyna Majek, Gordon Lawson and Andy Price (scenery & props), Evelyn Daley, Katie Preston, Tony Robinson, John Miles, Gordon Heathfield and George Collins (front-of-house).

The thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining event was Written by John Yates, Produced by Gordon Lawson and Directed by Samantha King.
