Haddenham Cricket Club's Women's team played their first hardball cricket match on Sunday versus local rivals Dinton Women. This was the first ever hardball game for a women's team from Haddenham.
The team had trained hard but with little game experience nerves were running high as the team stepped into the unknown.
The team started well. Accurate bowling and restricted Dinton CC to just 294 for 6. Pick of the bowlers were Emma (2 for 14) and Rachel (2 for 32 including a superb caught and bowled).
Haddenham's fielding was outstanding, Suz, Sarah and Claire were everywhere, Karen took a lovely catch at mid wicket, and Gemma's alertness forced a runout.
Haddenham batted well and proved very difficult to get out but couldn't quite keep up with the required run rate, despite Vicky's excellent 22 off 16, and we fell just short at 252 for 3.
So Haddenham didn't win, but that wasn't important. The team played well, with energy and great team spirit. A performance for the players, club and village to be proud of.
