Are you looking for activities to entertain your children?

Aylesbury Vale District Council has a list of suitable activities as part of its 'Do-It' initiative, which includes a broad range of events and activities aimed at children in the local area this Spring.

Below are the Easter holiday activities taking place in Aylesbury and the west of the Vale.

Archery 8 to 15 years

Fancy becoming a toxophilite? Qualified archery coaches will lead participants through a variety of skills during these popular fun indoor sessions. Please bring a drink.

Friday 5 April
Session 1 10am – 12pm
Session 2 1pm – 3pm

Price: £13 per session passport to leisure £9 per session

Bikeability (Level 1) for 7 – 12 year olds

Qualified instructors from Haddenham Cycle Training will take you through the Level 1 qualification to teach you all the cycle control skills you need. The session will include a safety check and lots of games to help improve cycling confidence whilst having fun at the same time. All participants will receive a Badge and Certificate at the end of the session. Those aged nine or over who achieve Level 1 can go on to do Bikeability Level 2 road cycling course (Please ask for details on the day).Participants must have basic cycling skills to attend this session. A limited number of bikes and helmets are available for loan. If you need to borrow a bike, you must clearly state this at the time of booking so that our instructors can contact you. Please bring a drink.

Tuesday 9 April 9.30am – 12.30pm

5% discount off the total price if 2 or more siblings are booked on the same course.

Bikeability (Level 2) for 9+ years

Bikeability Level 2 on-road training is suitable for anyone over nine who can control a bike confidently and has completed the Bikability Level 1 course. It covers the basics of riding a bicycle on the road including starting from the side of a road, passing parked cars and side roads, negotiating road narrowings and turning from major to minor roads/or vice versa. The course will also include discussions about cycle lanes and the Highway Code. Please note that places are limited as strict ratios are adhered to.

The intention of the course is to increase the participants' confidence when making road journeys. This course is subsidised by Buckinghamshire County Council. Please bring a drink.

Wednesday 10 – Thursday 11 April (2 day course) 9.30am – 12.30pm

Price: £39 per 2 day course
Discounts: There is a reduced rate of £60 if both level 1 and 2 are booked together for the same trainee. 5% discount off the total price if 2 or more siblings are booked on the same course on the same dates. Only one offer per booking.

Bikeability (Level 3)
For 11+ years, and must have completed Levels 1 and 2

When you reach Level 3 standard you will be able to deal with all types of road conditions and more challenging traffic situation. The course covers dealing with hazards, making 'on-the-move' risk assessments and planning routes for safer cycling. Please bring a drink.

Horse Riding for 4 – 16 years

Come down to Hartwell Stables for a horse riding taster experience. The morning sessions will consist of supervised grooming and plaiting and half hour lesson. Learn all about the parts of the ponies and how we care for them. The afternoon session will include gymkana games; team games on ponies, suitable for complete beginners or existing riders.

This is an excellent chance to try horse riding in a safe but fun environment. Please bring a drink. Groups will be split by age on the day.
