Mary White's Legendary Macmillan Fundraising Coffee Mornings
On Friday 26th September, the Haddenham Community Library had the privilege and pleasure of hosting the final fundraising coffee morning organised by Haddenham resident Mary White in aid of the Macmillan Cancer Support charity.
After 30 years of amazing generosity and work Mary is retiring.
Her legendary Coffee Mornings have become a feature of life in the village. By 2018 attendance figures were proving difficult to manage in her own home. At the time, Mary was a volunteer at the library, and the library manager came up with the idea of offering her the use of the library as a venue. The library trustees were delighted to be able to extend the library's support, and this relocation proved to be highly successful.
Numbers coming to the Coffee mornings have increased year on year , boosting the money raised at each event to over £1000. Apart from the Covid years of 2020 and 2021 the Macmillan Coffee morning has been held in the library since 2018 .
To celebrate her remarkable achievement at her final fundraising event for Macmillan Cancer Support on Friday 26th September 2025 the Haddenham Community Library Trustees presented Mary with a gift of garden vouchers.
