Haddenham Youth Football Club (HYFC) has announced former England midfielder Trevor Steven as its new Club Patron.
Trevor Steven played for Burnley, Everton, Rangers and Marseille as well as winning 36 caps for the national team.
The right-sided midfielder's medals include an FA Cup, UEFA Cup Winner's Cup, seven Scottish Premier Division and three Scottish League Cup titles as well as French Ligue 1.
Trevor played in the World Cups of 1986 and 1990 as well as the 1988 and 1992 Euros.
Since retiring, the former player has undertaken media duties for both RTE in Ireland and the BBC. He is now CEO of charity Mindflow, founded by Causeway Technologies, which champions mental health and seeks positive change in the construction industry by harnessing the power of football.
Alex Wagstaff, Club Chairman, said:
"We are delighted to welcome Trevor as our new Club Patron. It's fantastic to have an ex-England international involved in our Club and many will remember his playing days at Everton and Rangers especially.
"It will be great to have Trevor on board, giving our boys and girls a role model in a highly respected former player."
Trevor will be a guest at the Club's main events later this year, including the Festival of Football on the weekend of 30 and 31 August 2025.
Trevor Steven, who lives in Buckinghamshire, said:
"It's great to be on board with HYFC. Haddenham has a fantastic grassroots youth club, rooted in the community but with ambitious plans to attract more players and enhance its coaching and facilities.
"I'm looking forward to doing my bit to celebrate the achievements of all the boys and girls during Haddenham's big anniversary year."
There is no word yet on whether Steven will run out for the Haddenham Veterans team which joined the HYFC family last year.
HYFC is holding its annual Club Presentation Day this Saturday (26th April 2025) at Haddenham Airfield Pavilion which will see medals and trophies presented to players from U5 to U18. The Club has five teams in Cup Finals in April and May as it looks to add to the U11's League Cup Win last month.
