Congratulations to Chiltern Railways!
The rail firm has today opened the new link from Oxford to London Marylebone — the first new rail line between London and a major British city for over 100 years.
Working in partnership with Network Rail, supported by Chiltern Railway's £130 million investment, the new option for Oxford residents and visitors has become a reality.
The project took 619 days to complete, involving some 6,500 people and the installation of 68 new signals, 22 miles of track, 12 new bridges and the re-homing of more than 7,000 newts (!)
The Oxford Parkway to London Marylebone rail link is now open.
