Scarecrow Festival 2017

Back home » News » Scarecrow Festival 2017

Following last year's very successful first Scarecrow Festival, the Haddenham Association of Scouts and Guides is once again challenging the village community to use their imaginations to create Scarecrows all shapes and sizes. Scarecrows will be on display throughout the village from Saturday 10th June, during the Bucks Open Studios fortnight until Sunday 25th June.

Anyone can create a Scarecrow: children, adults, families, schools, local shops, businesses, community groups, clubs and organisations. The Haddenham Scouting and Guiding units will be taking part and they hope that lots of other local individuals and organisations will get creative and join them.

All you have to do is complete the Entry Form and return it as indicated – see PDF on this page.

Completed entry forms should be returned by Friday 2nd June, together with an optional voluntary contribution, which this year will be divided equally between the Haddenham Scout and Guide Association and Heads Together. This is a campaign coordinated by The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, to end stigma around mental health.

The deadline for entries is 2nd June to allow time to collate details and prepare the Scarecrow Trail maps. Please return forms to: 7 Dovecote, Haddenham HP17 8BP.

There are very few rules about your Scarecrow design. It can be any shape or size and made of any materials, but we would like to see a happy smiling face on each one please! Entrants must be able and willing to display it outside your premises 24 hours a day from 10th June (not before please!) until 25th June. All Scarecrow designers will receive a special Certificate of Participation.

The 2017 Scarecrow Festival will be launched at Haddenham Fete on 10th June, where Scarecrow Trail maps will be available from the Scout and Guide Association's stall in return for a £1 donation. Please check haddenham.net nearer the time for details of where else you can pick up Trail maps.
