Haddenham Scarecrow Festival Open Monday 1st to Sunday 14th June
THANK YOU to everyone who has entered this year's Haddenham Association of Scouts & Guides' Scarecrow Festival. We have had a fantastic response with a record breaking 127 entries from all over Haddenham!! Our previous average has been 58 entries, with the highest number in 2018 of 71. In these very challenging times, we're really hoping that the Festival will cheer people up and provide a welcome distraction that can be enjoyed safely while taking daily exercise and social distancing.
Trail Maps and List of entries
Trail Maps are now available to download from this webpage – simply click on the featured PDF document. As there are SO many scarecrows, the font is very small and intended to be printed as an A3 document, but if viewing on a phone or tablet, of course you can enlarge it to any size you like! Limited numbers of paper copies will be also available in four locations: near the exits of Bradmoor Farm and Haddenham Garden Centre, from outside No.7 Dovecote, Haddenham HP17 8BP and from outside No.70 Stanbridge Road, Haddenham HP17 8HN.
Fundraising
We are grateful for the generous donations totalling over £700 so far in aid of the Medical Detection Dogs to support their new research into the dogs' ability to detect Covid-19. It is hoped that further funds will be raised during the Festival itself. Instead of "selling" the maps, we are inviting voluntary donations please for any amount of £1 upwards in any of the following ways:
1. Via the JustGiving page
2. By Bank Transfer to 40-08-39, Account 51035185
3. By cheque (payable to Haddenham Association of Scouts and Guides) or cash in an envelope delivered to 7 Dovecote HP17 8BP or 70 Stanbridge Road HP17 8HN
"Scarecrow Festival Online" available from Monday 7th June!
We will be discouraging photos of Scarecrows appearing on local social media during the first week of the Festival to give people an opportunity to see the Scarecrows for themselves. We are very keen to encourage those residents (and visitors) who are able to walk outside for exercise to follow the Trail Map and hopefully make a donation as part of our fundraising endeavours. However, in order to include those who may be self-isolating or unable to get out into the village, a gallery containing photos of each Scarecrow will be made available on haddenham.net at the start of the second week of the Festival, from Monday 7th June onwards.
Vote for your 3 Favourites!
Once you have had an opportunity to view all the Scarecrows outdoors or online, everyone can choose THREE favourites and vote by email scarecrowhaddenham.festival@gmail.com
or text 07554 141810 by Monday 15th June.
The three most popular will receive a small award and ALL participants will receive a Certificate of Participation after the Festival.
Enjoy the Festival!
