The Haddenham Association of Scouts and Guides would like to say a big thank you to all those who kindly responded to our appeal for help with replacing “our” vandalised bench. The bench was installed on Haddenham Airfield in July 2023, using funds raised at a village Gang Show, and was discovered in pieces at the end of August this year.
Due to the generosity of local residents, community groups and village organisations, we have received several pledges of support, which means we can go ahead with the replacement project. In fact, we hope to restore the original bench in addition to commissioning at least one new sturdy bespoke bench from Wendover based charity, Lindengate. This is a local mental health charity that uses gardening and conservation to help people of all ages with their health & wellbeing.
Several Scouting and Guiding units are organising activities to help with the fundraising efforts including Beavers, Cubs and Brownies. The 3rd Haddenham Brownies will be attempting a sponsored silence on at their weekly meeting on Tuesday 21st October. This will be a genuine challenge for the girls as each of the four “Sixes” groups will have to remain totally silent and opt out of the evening’s activities in shifts to add up to a collective 480 minutes of silence! They will need plenty of encouragement so if you would like to sponsor them, please go here
Alternatively, sponsorship can be made by bank transfer to the Haddenham Association of Scouts and Guides at HSBC (Business Account) Sort Code: 40-08-39, Account number: 42140292 – Ref: Bench. Please contact us by email at: scarecrowhaddenham.festival@gmail.com to let us know you have made a bank transfer so we can confirm your donation.
We will publish another update in a few weeks. Hopefully there will soon be more benches installed for the local community to use and enjoy.
Thank you so much for your support.
