Are you a relatively new resident in the village?

Have you discovered the delights of Snakemoor yet – Haddenham's own little nature reserve, located on the West (Thame side) of the railway station?

It's a wonderful area to walk and enjoy the countryside on our doorstep.

And as you will see from the recent photographs kindly supplied by Gill Harvey, Spring is very much in sight. There are more images to enjoy in the Galleries section of this website.

Snakemoor is maintained by a small but very enthusiastic group of volunteers, under the guidance of Julian Watson.

Perhaps you might consider lending a hand?

No specialist skills are needed, just the willingness to roll your sleeves up get stuck into the list of jobs highlighted by Julian. You are advised, however, to wear robust footwear and gardening gloves.

The next volunteer work party is on Saturday 9th March 2024, from 10.00am until 12 noon. The group will meet by the driveway benches.

The areas to be be tackled will include:

  • Bird box monitoring
  • Chipping brush from winter hedge laying (if equipment available)
  • Reinforcing the paths, after recent waterlogging
  • Clearing excess algae from the pond
  • Stream maintenance
  • Signage upkeep

It's helpful for Julian to know how many helpers he's likely to have in advance, so if you are able to get along, please email him at: julianwatson1960@gmail.com
