As many of you will be aware, for over 25 years we have been calling for a safe route between Haddenham and Thame for walkers, cyclists, wheelers and horse riders – the Haddenham-Thame Greenway.
The latest stage in the campaign is a petition to demonstrate the strength and depth of local support – we would really appreciate it if you would add you name by clicking on the link, as well as sharing it with friends, neighbours and family.
Remember, more than one person in a household can add their name. Children, in particular, stand to gain hugely from the extra freedom and independence the greenway will bring, although they need to be 16 or over to sign.

The reason for the timing is twofold. First, because the only other petition dates back to 2009, so we thought it was time to refresh people's memories.
And secondly, because we're about to reach an important milestone. For the past three years, Bucks and Oxfordshire Councils have been working on a detailed options report to help them determine a route and take a decision on moving forward with the project.
They hope to complete the legal portion of this work by November and then hold a 'stakeholder meeting'. We want to provide fresh evidence for this meeting that a greenway is massively popular, will be heavily used and should be given the green light by our councils immediately.
We're aware that these 25-year timescales seem unfeasibly long. Local government is not known for moving fast, but the councils really do hold the key to getting the route built, so we want to present them with a huge show of support. At time of writing, over 1,500 have signed, which is amazing! But given the combined population of Haddenham and Thame, there's scope for many more.
