Rose & Thistle Update
A group of villagers in Haddenham is continuing to fight to save the historic Rose and Thistle pub. The pub, which has served the Buckinghamshire village since the 18th century, has been closed since 2019, on the market for over a year and is at risk of being converted into a residential property.
The group launched a Crowdfunder campaign in April and have already raised 112,930. Funds have primarily been raised via a community share offer, with a minimum investment of 100 and a maximum investment of 100,000. The group have also had success with a number of fundraising events with the most recent, a Summer Party in partnerships with AYR StrEAT Meet, adding 13,725 to the pot.
The next event is a classic pub quiz on Friday 25 September at Haddenham Village Hall with tickets on sale now on Eventbrite. The night will feature a live auction with some fantastic lots generous donated by local supporters, including:

A Spa Stay at Horwood House Milton Keynes
A 10,000 ft sky dive with a 5,000 feet free fall with GoSkydive

A 45 minute flight over Buckinghamshire from Denham Aerodrome
A meal for 2 at The Seven Stars, Dinton

Quiz tables for a maximum of ten people are available for 80. Individual tickets are also available for 10 where you will be placed on a table where you can either quiz independently or join forces with other quizzers. Tables are selling fast, with just three left. The last quiz in aid of The Rose & Thistle was a sell-out, raising over 4000 to help save Haddenhams iconic village pub.
