Two village charities, Tiggywinkles and ReLEAF Haddenham have each received funds raised from the 2024 Scarecrow Festival. The total amount raised this year was over £1000. On Monday, £511 was given to each of these very worthy Haddenham good causes by Francesca Flaxton on behalf of Haddenham Scout and Guide Association.

Louise Brown from Tiggywinkles said "We are very grateful for this support".

The donation will go towards caring for and feeding the many baby birds and animals which are brought into the Wildlife Hospital during the summer. For example, £5 will buy a bottle to feed an orphaned mammal and £50 will x-ray an injured badger. The Tiggywinkles Visitor Centre is open 7 days a week 10am-4pm. ReLEAF is a project run by Zero Carbon Haddenham, in collaboration with Haddenham Parish Council. Project leader Kirsten Shaw said "Thank you so much for the generous donation from the Scarecrow Festival to the reLEAF project! This will buy plenty of stakes and mulch and more trees to plant around the village. We buy small trees as they survive better, typically costing around £60 each". ReLEAF plans to finish planting trees along Tibbs Road in the autumn. In the future, they hope to start planting trees on The Grove Estate. Anyone interested in helping reLEAF can contact releaf@zeroch.org or complete the online form to volunteer.

Haddenham Scarecrow Festival began in 2016 and has grown into a popular and established community tradition. In the last 9 years, the event has raised almost £15,500 for many local charities. The 2025 Festival will be the event's 10th Anniversary and it is hoped to recruit 100 Scarecrow entries! More info from scarecrowhaddenham.festival@gmail.com
