Haddenham Women's Cricket team faced stiff opposition again today in the form of Banbury Women who were established several years ago and have developed into a strong outfit. Haddenham Women were given the option of ducking this fixture but what they lack in experience they make up for with courage and determination and refused to back out.

Haddenham batted first and immediately took it to Banbury. Their opening bowlers were completely flummoxed by Haddenham's technical expertise and it took 2 deliveries that Dennis Lillie (look him up if you're too young to have seen him play) would have been proud of to dismiss Haddenham's brave openers, Gemma and Sarah.

Rachel S and Claire B quickly got us back on track and began to build a healthy score which forced Banbury to use their higher league bowlers to avoid Haddenham building an unassailable score.

It was then Haddenham's turn to bowl and whilst fielding has been an area of strength for the team they were determined to improve their bowling and they didn't disappoint.

Lucie bowled with real venom and rattled their batters a number of times and Rachel R took a wonderful 'caught and bowled' that would have graced Lords itself.

Fielding was as good as ever. Karen putting her body on the line both with the bat and in the field led by example, and two great runouts typified the never say die attitude of the team.

The team came up slight short 228 against 289 but flippin hec, we were good. Banbury may have left with a win but Haddenham are on the up!
