Liz was born in Bishop Aukland, County Durham, during World War II on April 22nd 1940, the day following the 14th birthday of Princess Elizabeth, who would later become Queen Elizabeth II. She held a deep affection for the Queen and diligently observed her speeches every Christmas, taking great pride in the fact that her brother, Brian, and her granddaughter, Georgia, both had the privilege of meeting the Queen on separate occasions.
Liz passed away on September 19th, the same day as the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022.
Moving south around 1960 to Windsor, then to Marlow for around 30 years where her two sons Andrew and Mark grew up, then to Haddenham during the 1990's.
She loved living in Haddenham, especially St Mary's church and the duck pond which she often sat by the pond or drove past it slowly whenever she had a chance. She was a regular visitor of the Garden Centre and more often than not whenever family or friends visited it was her place of choice for tea, sandwiches and cakes.
Liz loved to travel and was somewhat adventurous, on one occasion she travelled to Peru alone to meet a group of like minded strangers and hiked the Inca Trail to visit Machu Picchu. The City in the Clouds became a very special place to her and the experience changed her life.
Upon her return she became seriously ill and was admitted to hospital and placed in Isolation as they couldn't figure out what was wrong.
Eventually after tests were carried out the diagnosis was Pneumonia and Amoebic Dysentery and thankfully they stabilised her and her recovery began.
Several months later when discussing her adventures in Peru she spoke of encountering a Near Death Experience in hospital and being drawn along a tunnel of white light and then bring led back by a helping hand and hearing the words "It's not your time."
This profound experience completely changed her direction in life and drove her to gain more knowledge about Energy Healing, how it worked, and more importantly how could she use it to help others. Mum read numerous books and took numerous healing courses from the 1990's which included annual visits to the Samye Ling Buddhist Retreat near Lockerbie in Scotland on her quest to gain more knowledge. Liz became a Reiki Master, practitioner and teacher in 2002 and also trained in several other forms of Energy Healing. Apart from teaching and practising she became a voluntary complementary therapist in the Cancer Care Unit at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
One of her favourite quotes if not her favourite was from Dalai Lama, "If you want to look after other people, look after yourself. If you want to look after yourself, look after other people." which sums her up nicely.
Liz passed away in no pain with absolutely no fear of death, when the chaplain said to her the grass is greener on the other side, she replied with a warm smile "I know".
