Maria-Louise Newitt, RIP

Back home » Maria-Louise Newitt, RIP
untitled

We are sad to report the death on 4th August of Mrs Maria-Louise Newitt of the Swiss Cottage, 8 Station Road.

A devout Catholic, Maria-Louise Malkin was born in Poland in 1932, daughter of a Polish Air Force officer who escaped Poland to join the RAF at Halton. Maria-Louise and the rest of his family endured Nazi rule in Warsaw and later in a labour camp in Dresden, until, in 1945, they joined their father here.

Maria-Louise married Henry Newitt in 1969 and came to live in Haddenham, at first in Dovecote and then in Station Road. Henry died in 2007.

In recent years she was known to many Fish Scheme volunteers with her Friday trips to the Powdered Wig.
