One of the most notable local events of 2015 will be the 30th Anniversary of Stonehill House, the Abbeyfield residential care home in Churchway. This wonderful achievement is due in no small part to the unstinting care given by House Manager, Lindsey McGibbon and her brilliant team, to the elderly residents who have made Stonehill House their home.
Lindsey has been managing Stonehill House since its inception in 1985 and along with the help of her staff, the management committee and volunteers has ensured that the residents enjoy a happy, safe and secure environment while maintaining their independence as much as possible.
There will be various celebrations to mark the anniversary but one of the first will be a Dance-a-thon with the Pondarosa modern line dancers which will take place on Saturday 21st March in the village hall. There can be no better way to celebrate than with a fun event to help raise money for the much needed extension at the house to accommodate four ensuite bathrooms.
During the day there will be three sessions. In the morning a beginners class to entice anyone who would like to 'have a go' at modern line dancing but has never taken the first step!!
In the afternoon we will hold a demonstration line dancing class and the brilliant Anuket Belly Dancers will be performing for us. We have invited the local care homes to bring along their residents, families and friends to come along and watch the dancing which we are certain they will enjoy.
And finally, in the evening, we are delighted that the highlight of the day will be a social line dance with entertainment by Peter Barlow, a professional singer, who will add an exciting grand finale to the whole event.
During the morning there will be a table top sale, which we shall be asking each stall holder for a minimum donation of £5 per pitch. If you would like a table please contact Haddenham 290028. Also, we will be running a raffle, with prizes including £100 cash, a hamper, vouchers, wine and many more wonderful items and throughout the day refreshments will be available.
