Cider Winner 2023

A record entry of 18 ciders battled it out for the coveted title of Cider of the Year 2023 in a packed Rising Sun on Saturday 11th March.

The competition was fierce with Johnny Jack's Juicy Jollop, Wasp Urine and Pete's Peculiar all doing well. But as the drink flowed two ciders pulled away from the crowd with Julie and Kerrie's entry 'Haddington Vintage' finishing a creditable 2nd and 'Water Infection', brewed by the ever popular Gary "Guzzi" Beattie finishing top of the pile.

Winning the to title to rapturous applause, an emotional Gary dedicated the award to his fans, friends and family, particularly his excellent Mum.

Also of note was Dave Towell who improved from a poor last place in 2022 to an overall 3rd place and winner of the Veterans Award, with his entry Golden Drummer which is his favourite dinner.

What a night it was! One to remember.
