Recent heavy rainfall will doubtless see the floodplain and low lying fields close to Thame underwater once again. The image shows the most recent flood alert put out by the Environment Agency, a couple of days ago (click on the image to view an enlarged version).
Flooded fields near Thame are a familiar site for many who have lived in this area for a few years but, thankfully, Haddenham appears to be sufficiently elevated to escape the biggest dangers of flooding.
According to the Environment Agency, over five million people in England live and work in properties at risk of flooding from rivers or the sea, whilst more face flood threats from groundwater, surface water, sewers, and reservoirs.

In extreme conditions housholders won't be able to stop flood water, and residents should always put personal safety above attempts to protect property and possessions.
