Last Sunday, Haddenham Youth FC held its annual 'fun day', hosting 42 other teams on a glorious sunny day and the weather certainly played its part in helping to make for a great day out.

There was the usual BBQ, refreshments and bouncy slide along with other stall holders, which added to the relaxed atmosphere.

This is HYFC's major fundraiser and is a fun pre-season tournament which gives the invited teams a chance to see how they might fair in the new season.

The day started off brilliantly for HYFC where the U13s carried on where they ended last season, winning their final. The U7's enjoyed their first taste of competitive football and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, scoring some outstanding goals along the way.

The lunchtime shift ended with another HYFC team reaching a final. The U12s, by now in blistering heat, did admirably in finishing runner up to a very strong Wendover team. They did themselves proud.

The final session of the day saw the U10s and U11s reach the finals, along with Risborough. Both unfortunately lost, but the U11s took their final all the way to a penalty shoot-out.

Next week sees the start of the new football season and HYFC are always keen to encourage new players to come along. The first two sessions are free to ensure that the children enjoy our coaching styles. We now have three girls' teams; a ladies' team and we also host walking football for the over 40's male or female

At HYFC, football is for all!
