Football fever is set to take hold in Haddenham over the first weekend in September (2nd-3rd) as Haddenham Youth Football Club (HYFC) welcomes teams from across the local area for its Festival of Football.
HYFC's main annual fundraising event is being staged for the first time since COVID-19. The event moves from its traditional Woodways home to the Airfield pitches where it will take place over a full weekend rather than a single day.
Around 800 young players from Thame to Marlow, Aylesbury to Maidenhead will take part in the friendly event. They will be joined by coaches and supporters who will be able to take advantage of the Airfield Pavilion.
Festival Partners are Blanchford Building Supplies and BWK Solicitors. The event is also supported by PSP (AV rental and technical production) and Haddenham Parish Council.
Alex Wagstaff, HYFC Chairman, said:
"It's great to have local teams back for a friendly tournament in Haddenham. It's a fantastic way to showcase the Airfield pavilion and pitches, warm up for the league season starting on the following weekend and raise funds to invest in coaching and facilities."
Visiting teams will park on Haddenham Business Park, thanks to the support of several companies on the estate. A large team of Festival volunteers will help visitors find their way to parking and onto the pitches.
The Airfield Pavilion will be HQ for the Festival, with the kitchen providing refreshments throughout the day. A small number of local catering vendors will also help to keep players and spectators energised throughout the weekend.
Local residents are welcome to enjoy the Festival with entry £2 on the gate. More details here
HYFC recently launched its new website — www.hyfc.club — as part of its plan to develop coaching; attract more players; add more teams; improve its playing facilities in partnership with Haddenham Parish Council and bag more wins, big or small. If you are interested in playing, coaching or supporting the Club, say hello@hyfc.club.
