Red Kite Radio presenter Deep Kundhi planned, organised and hosted the evening at Haddenham Village Hall, where party goers enjoyed an evening of great music, food and dancing.
At Haddenham's Summerfest on Saturday (1st July), Deep presented a cheque for £1,200 to Breakfast Show host Alan Taberer.
Red Kite Radio Head of Output, Chris Long, said: "This was a magnificent effort by Deep, so much hard work went into organising and hosting the disco, and the money will be put to good effect because we are looking to purchase outside broadcast equipment and have recently refitted our studio."
Deep, a Royal Mail Operations Manager, who has been with Red Kite Radio since October last year, has worked in a voluntary capacity as a mobile DJ for 15 years to raise money for meningitis and cancer charities.
He said: "I really enjoy mobile DJ-ing for charity and I thought I would take the opportunity to raise funds for our station. The maximum sum I have raised before was £800, so I was expecting to raise about £500, so I'm really pleased we were able to more than double that target. Of course, we got a lot of interest from our Red Kite Radio listeners, and it all went so much better on the night than I was expecting."
Red Kite Radio, run entirely by volunteers, is based at Haddenham Garden Centre and has been broadcasting for six years to Thame, Haddenham and all the surrounding villages in Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire. Local listeners can tune in on their radios at 107.2fm, but the station has fans from all around the country and the world, who regularly tune in via their Smart Speaker or by listening online at www.redkiteradio.com
