Some small but positive steps forward ...
Oxfordshire County Council have included money for the Haddenham-Thame Greenway (or Thame-Haddenham active travel link, as they call it) in their draft budget. This seems like a significant step forward, which I hope will provoke Bucks Council into finally getting their act together and getting on with the project.
The information prepared for the public consultation on the budget includes £5.0m for "an active travel link between Thame and Haddenham Parkway" in the period 2025 to 2028. This appears under the heading "Proposed Additions to future Capital Pipeline (pending funding becoming available)" on page 75 of the linked document. The document also lists £200k for "Oxfordshire's contribution" to a Thame-Haddenham feasibility study, para 117 and p171, under the heading "High priority capital schemes to which indicative funding is proposed to be allocated".
Oxon County Councillors will vote on the budget on 11 February 2025.
The public consultation on the draft budget runs until 2nd January and can be found here – it's open to anyone with an interest, although presumably Oxfordshire residents' views will be prioritised. It's very short and you can easily limit your responses to support for the greenway.
And as ever, if you want to get news on the project hot of the press, email us at haddswac@gmail.com and I'll put you on the mailing list.
Happy new year!
