We are looking for nominations from Haddenham residents to celebrate the efforts of those individuals who go the extra mile for their community.
Do you know someone who contributes significantly to the life and soul of Haddenham – selflessly giving up their time for the benefit of others?
Voluntary contributions like these help to make Haddenham the friendly and supportive community we know and love.
So, who springs to mind?
Please nominate that individual for the Haddenham Community Champions 2016 Awards.
All nominations need to be proposed and seconded by two independent residents (one proposer and one seconder) and supported by a brief description of why you are making the nomination – not more than 250 words, or roughly half-a-page of hand-written A4, please. Nominations need to be received on or before the closing date: Monday 1st August 2016.
(Please be sure to check that the individual is willing to be nominated first – but don't let false modesty on their part prevent well-deserving examples from being acknowledged and celebrated: they may need a gentle nudge of encouragement before agreeing!)
The three top-rated nominations will each win a Cream Tea for Two as a gift from Haddenham Garden Centre, as well as the community's heartfelt acknowledgement at a special awards ceremony to be held in September.
Those with the challenging task of judging the three most notable examples from all the nominations received will be a panel of folk representing Haddenham Garden Centre, Haddenham Village Society and Haddenham.net – it therefore follows that no nominations can be received on behalf of folk directly associated with the management of those organisations, please.
How to Nominate
The nomination process will be coordinated through this website. Please email your nomination(s) to the editor at the address indicated below, or send a written nomination by traditional letter if you prefer – but not more than 250 words please.
Simply state in your own words why you feel the individual in question deserves to be acknowledged as a Haddenham Community Champion, indicating the practical ways in which the person contributes their time and energy. Some indication of the scale and frequency of the work they carry out, and the target group or individuals who benefit from the individual's efforts, would also be helpful, please.
Don't forget to add the name and contact details (ideally with phone numbers too) of three people:
1. the individual being nominated;
2. the proposer; and
3. the seconder.
Email: haddenham.net @hotmail.com
Letter: The Editor, Haddenham.net, 18 Churchway, Haddenham HP17 8AA
Alternatively, a sealed letter can also be handed in at the Community Library.
We hope to publish an abbreviated version of all nominations, to celebrate the wide range of ways in which Haddenham residents benefit from many community-minded individuals living in the area.
Spread the Word!
Haddenham.net reaches out to a very large audience, but not everyone is connected online and we are particularly keen to ensure that more senior members of the community get to hear about the Community Champions Awards and have an opportunity to nominate someone if they so choose. So please help spread the word!
Any queries, please don't hesitate to make contact with the Editor of this website either by email (see above) or Tel: 01844 290244.
