Haddenham Horticultural Society has organised an outing to Adwell House, near Thame on Wednesday 20th September. This is open to both members and non-members.
There will be a guided tour by Head Gardener Colin Roberts starting at 14.00, but there is also the option for you to have a quick stroll around on your own, or to just find a place to sit and enjoy the surroundings. The garden was originally laid out in the 19th century by the present owner's ancestors and has developed over the generations since then. It is fed by spring water and the water garden remains one of the major features.
The tour will last around 2 hours and the afternoon will finish with tea and biscuits for everyone. Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome. The cost will be £8 per head for the tour around the gardens and lakes, plus the refreshments, and as usual this all goes towards the upkeep of Adwell Church.
As there is a reasonable amount of parking at Adwell it will be possible people to go direct if they wish, although offers of car sharing are appreciated, not least because not all of us drive.
For further details and to book, please contact Gay Jordan on 01844 291490, email: gay.jordan@outlook.com
HHS has also arranged a talk for Wednesday 27th September when Judy Farr, who has worked in the movies for 40 years and has been Bafta, Emmy and Oscar nominated, will be telling us all about "Flowers in Film".
As usual the talk will be held in the Walter Rose Room, Haddenham Village Hall, starting at 20.00, and is open to non-members as well as members. Admission is free, but voluntary contributions towards the room hire costs, etc. are much appreciated.
