The u3a meeting on 11th June will feature 'The Story of the Royal Bucks Hospital' and the speaker is John Frewin.

Featuring a unique film of a hospital at work in the 1930s.

In the 1930s, before the birth of the NHS, officials from The Royal Bucks Hospital toured towns and villages in North Bucks and South Beds enlisting families to join the hospital's Contributory Scheme that ensured free healthcare at the hospital. They commissioned a film of the hospital at work, a film unseen since the 1930s, which tells the story of the hospital from its birth in the 1860s, the plans having been drawn up by Florence Nightingale.
