Learn how to propagate plants at 'Turn End'
Thursday 14th May, 10:00-16:00, £50. Booking is required.

If you've always wanted to propagate your own plants but are not sure how, you may be interested in joining our gardening workshop on Thursday 14th May 2015 (10.00 — 16.00) to find out tips and techniques on propagating spring and early summer plants.

Ideal for beginners and those with some experience, the workshop will include seed sowing, dividing plants and taking cuttings — techniques that are easy to practice at home and without the need for special facilities.

The workshop will be based in our atmospheric potting shed (originally a Victorian coach house) and will explore:

  • How a plant's form and means of growth informs suitable propagation techniques.
  • Equipment and materials used in plant propagation.
  • Cuttings that can be taken in spring and early summer including: softwood stem cuttings, leaf cuttings, basal shoot cuttings and offsets.
  • When and how to sow seeds.
  • Identify plants that are best divided in the spring.
  • Chip budding, a grafting technique.

The day will give you a lovely chance to explore Turn Endʼs garden and ask questions of expert horticulturalist Lindsay Engers, who has many years of teaching and practical gardening experience, and always has useful tips and techniques to try at home. Jackie Hunt, our current gardener and Dawn Meadows, our former gardener, will also be on hand to share their experiences and help explain techniques.

Please complete and email Booking Form (see document below image) to turnendtrustevents@gmail.com or phone: 07591 018601.
