New Trustees needed by the Community Library – Could this be your part in our story?

About Us

We are a successful volunteer run community resource situated at the centre of the village in our unique and distinctive building. We have been providing library and information services and much more to the residents of Haddenham and surrounding villages since 2012.

We provide far more than a traditional public library service. We are a community hub proudly offering inclusive and accessible socially beneficial services to all members of the local community across all age ranges. We offer a safe comfortable space for connecting, socialising, and learning that is cool in the summer and warm in the winter, staffed by a pool of enthusiastic local volunteers supervised by our paid managers.

The community in Haddenham is growing and changing rapidly, and the Board is determined to offer better targeted and innovative services to meet the needs of our dynamic community.

The role

As a registered charity and company limited by guarantee, the library is run by a Board of Trustees/Directors, all of whom are volunteers and are responsible for its management, well-being, and effectiveness. Besides thinking about its services and facilities, the trustees/directors must ensure the library manages its assets, meets its financial obligations, and most importantly functions within the legal framework of a charity.

To ensure it is representative of our rapidly changing local community the Board is looking for imaginative people over the age of 18, who would like to use their life and or professional experience, natural proficiency, and interest in the wellbeing of their community to help keep the library growing.

You will be joining a group of local people from all walks of life who give their time and energies freely and care deeply about the continuation of the library.

As a trustee your time commitment includes attendance at monthly Trustee /Director Board meetings, in the library on a weekday between 7.30 and 9.30pm plus ad hoc meetings with other organisations and agencies and participation in project working groups. You will receive support, advice, and training as necessary to assist you with your role.

If you are interested, please contact, Susan Toner, Chair of the Board of Trustees by emailing your contact details to: info@haddenhamcommunitylibrary.org.uk

Susan will contact you to arrange a time to talk about the role and application process. Interviews with the Board for the position will be at the library following shortlisting of the applications received.
