Steel Drumming Workshop 01

It has been a busy week for Haddenham St Mary's CE School.

The school enjoyed a special visit from Bishop Steven from the Diocese of Oxford on Wednesday, followed by a personal appearance by Levi Roots as part of the school's Caribbean Day on Thursday!

Levi Roots (real name, Keith Valentine Graham) is the British-Jamaican reggae musician, television personality and celebrity chef best known for his 'Reggie Reggie Sauce' which was launched onto the UK market with help from businessman Peter Jones via the BBC TV programme 'Dragon's Den'

Levi engaged a hall full of very attentive pupils with his musical introduction and a step-by-step description of the most important ingredients in his popular sauce — from root ginger and allspice to red chili peppers and cinnamon, together with one or two secret ingredients!

Clearly a recipe for success — Levi Roots' net worth was recently reported to be over £35 million!

That would explain his rather impressive whistle & flute!

Children also participated in a musical workshop, offered by two London-based musicians, teaching skills in playing a steel drum and providing an opportunity to listen and dance to this very distinctive Caribbean sound.
