The annual village carol service, hosted by Churches Together in Haddenham, was held in the village hall on Friday evening. 13th December. This year the lead organisation was the Church of the Good Shepherd, with primary inputs from Mary Miller and Father Leszek Wisniewski.
A small 'ad hoc' band, drawn together for the evening by Alison Green, provided delightful accompaniement to support the singing of traditional carols, which included O Come All Ye Faithful, Once in Royal David's City, O Little Town of Bethlehem, Away in a Manger, While Shepherds Watched and Hark the Herald Angels Sing.
Readings were delivered by folk representing local organisations: Andy Hardy, Mary Miller, Jackie Harland, Keith Milmer, Carol Murray and Keith Wallace.
The audience enjoyed some lovely singing from a small number of members of the 'Treble Clefs' choir from Haddenham St Mary CE School.
Attendance was slightly down on previous years, partly due to an unfortunate clash of another village activity at the Junior School. It is hoped that such clashes can be avoided in future by encouraging organisers to consult the village events diary on the community website before finalising their own arrangements.
