Volunteer Helpers Sought

Haddenham has a fine tradition of voluntary effort on the part of its residents when it comes to helping to organise and run community events. This website is replete with the activities of clubs, societies and organisations that are the bedrock of our sharing community – and long may that be so, even as the village grows.

Two specific village events are coming up in the next few weeks, and organisers are looking for additional help, please.

Village Fete

The Village Fete is fast approaching, and the organising committee is looking for help in raising a large percentage of the money which comes in every year for good causes in the village.

Could you spare some time on Saturday afternoon 10th June to sell programmes at the Fete, either from

1.00pm – 2.30pm
or
2.30pm – 4.00pm

This gives sufficient time for volunteers to enjoy all the delights of the Fete during the rest of the afternoon.

'Summerfest' Beer Festival

Haddenham Summerfest is only five weeks away (Saturday 1st July) and the Trust is asking for your support once again to help make the event its usual success.

For 2017 the organisers have changed the arrangements slightly, so they no longer need volunteer support on the entrance. Instead the main focus is on finding help with serving the Ales, Craft Beer, Lager, Cider, Pimms and soft drinks. Changes will also be implemented to the Pimms preparation process to reduce the considerable effort on the day.

The 3-hour serving shifts last year were not received well, so this year the organising committee will be asking for only 2-hour shifts, please. Organisers find it relatively easy to satisfy the early shifts, but the later shifts are always a challenge. So, if volunteers can be flexible over timings, that would be very much appreciated.

Having decided on 2-hour shifts, the result is that more volunteers will be required, of course. So if you're inclined to help, please would you also invite friends, relatives, neighbours, acquaintances and work contacts! All volunteers gain free entrance to the event and the satisfaction of having made a significant contribution to a wonderful community event.

A number of volunteers are also sought to marshal car parking from 12noon until 4.00pm, please.
