Staff at Haddenham Community Junior School look to offer a wide series of learning activities to provide their pupils with varied and engaging experiences at Key Stage 2.

A recent educational visit by Year 6 pupils to the Pitt Rivers Museum, Oxford, was not only a great way to enhance school topic work studies on North America, but also an opportunity to take a good look at the Haida Totem Pole – scaling nearly three floors high!

The Totem Pole, carved from a Canadian Red cedar tree, is the largest object on display at the museum and proved to be a big hit for pupils on the day.

"There were many interesting exhibits in the museum such as the Haida Totem Pole, shrunken heads, a real Egyptian Mummy and lots of taxidermy! It was a very informative and enjoyable visit," commented Year 6 pupil Grace McGuiness.

And on Friday 24th February, upper school children were treated to an annual visit by the Young Shakespeare Company who performed 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'.

"It was a fantastic opportunity for the children to participate in a play alongside professional actors who never fail to excite and inspire their audience," commented Sharon Palmer, Year 6 teacher at the school.
