I wonder if anyone recalls Dr. Chalmers Fairweather, his wife Vera and their three children Elizabeth, John and Lyall. Cham, as he was known in the family, was a GP in Haddenham for, I believe, some time in the 1940s until they retired to live near the Cathedral in Ely, probably in the late 1950s.early 1960s My name is John Duffus, I was born in Aberdeen back in 1946 and Vera's first husband Lyall Duffus was my uncle, although sadly he died in a motor accident long before I was born. One of my middle names is Lyall. I m also a relative of Cham. My grandfather was the GP in the small town of Auchenblae about 25 miles from Aberdeen. After his death aged 69 in 1928, Cham who had been born in Laurencekirk only some ten miles away took over his practice. When Lyall was killed in 1935, Cham more or less felt it his duty to look after Lyall's family. Eventually he and Vera got married and then moved south. I shall be most grateful if any reader has any interesting stories about their time in Haddenham. Many thanks in advance. John Duffus

This is a message to Richard Barber about asking for a motorcyclist to accompany him on rides. I am about the same age and would love to have someone like him to ride with. If I can have an email address for him or telephone number I could contact him. Or if my email address could be given to him he can email me. I'm not sure how this works.

There was a boards game club in Haddenham but it is now run from Long Crendon. More info can be found at https://www.facebook.com/p/Board-Games-Club-100086367934432/. It runs once a month on a Sunday and has an extensive range of games to play and caters for all ages.

Has anyone had a parcel delivered today, 19th December from Amazon? It has the right name and address on it but has been delivered to a front door I don't recognise. Possibly an older house as there is a wychert wall beside it. Our house, Fort End House, is about two doors down from the bakery and has just had the long wychert wall rebuilt. Happy to pick up if necessary. Thank you.

Does anyone have a portable (?electric) shredder I might hire for half a day to shred our apple tree prunings? Commercial firms seem only to hire petrol driven ones and not for half a day! I could collect in my hatchback. Thanks.

A package for me was delivered by Royal Mail today, and the "proof of delivery" that they provide is a picture of the inside of a house that is under construction... which is not my house.
